Welcome! I’m a tenor saxophonist from Redlands, California, and I invite you to check out the sounds and info on the following pages. There are two purposes for this site: at the local level, “Our Town” of Redlands had, a few years back, a thriving little jazz “scene” with several great places to play, and appreciative people regularly turned out to listen. Redlands is home to several very accomplished jazz musicians, although this fact is perhaps not as widely recognized or utilized as it could be in a community otherwise so generally appreciative of artistic endeavors. Through this site, I would like to promote a greater public awareness of these musicians, especially in Redlands and the Inland Empire, and also provide a mechanism for creating additional opportunities for them to be heard. If you like straightahead, acoustic jazz, the many files on the “Sounds” page provide excellent examples of what was and still is locally available, and the “Links” page contains paths for you to learn more about many of these area artists. I also hope the “Calendar” will be a useful resource for anyone wanting to know what’s happening on the Inland Empire jazz music scene, and I encourage jazz musicians to forward to me any straightahead gig information for inclusion. In addition, I enjoy checking out other saxophonists’ sites, whether to get ideas or to simply listen to what others have done. I recently converted several old gig tapes to CD, and in so doing realized there were some reasonably presentable performances. So this site is also an outgrowth of that project; I simply concluded “why not?” when considering the addition of this website to those of online saxophone community worldwide. If you’re a musician, perhaps you’ll enjoy reading about, and can relate to, some of my experiences, and I especially hope you’ll find something in “Sounds” to be of interest!
