I’ve been very fortunate to know amazingly talented composer/arranger/saxophonist/pianist/bassist/artist and fellow Redlands resident Sandy Megas for almost two decades. “Hip Pocket,” a nine-piece jazz band comprised of Inland Empire professional musicians, has performed Sandy’s music to enthusiastic audiences for years. Sandy has also had several jazz artists record entire CD’s of his compositions and arrangements. Anyone in the market for great combo or big band charts (even music for full orchestra) should definitely check out his site!

Matt is simply one of the most creative people I’ve ever met. This alto saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist has amassed many impressive recording/touring credits, and we’ve performed together in a variety of contexts for years. A great player well-versed in jazz languages ranging from bebop to free, Matt resides in Redlands and also teaches locally. Matt’s site has MP3’s to check out from several of his recent CD’s.
Joe Bagg's MySpace Profile
Originally from Beaumont, Joe has made quite a name for himself in jazz circles worldwide. An incredible jazz pianist and Hammond B3 organist, Joe works constantly in the L.A. area and tours worldwide with truly legendary jazz artists. Joe is also appearing on more and more CD’s with wide distribution, so his talent is readily accessible. Music fans in Redlands may also recognize Joe from several recent local appearances.

Jeff is a very gifted tenor saxophonist based in Riverside who also teaches saxophone and jazz improvisation at three area colleges. His site has a wealth of educational materials, as well as a current Calendar listing where this “burning” tenor player can be heard next.

Another outstanding musician and long-term resident of Redlands, Jody is internationally known for both his superb guitar playing and his series of over twenty instructional books and videos. If you like jazz guitar, you’ll love Jody’s work! Don’t miss the “Music” page on his site.

Most Redlands residents already know about John, but here is his site, just in case you haven’t visited yet. The guitar virtuoso and “hometown hero” gave me my first ever sax lesson (yes, you read that right!) way back when. I also should have asked him for his autograph!

Louis Gerrits, a professional saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist residing in the Netherlands, has created an amazing website dedicated to the great tenor saxophonist Michael Brecker. Louis has been trading live Brecker recordings with fans worldwide since 2001, and as a result has amassed an incredible collection of CD and DVD performances. If you have any live Brecker material, Louis would like to hear from you! The site also includes video clips and many solo transcriptions, including several submitted by Rick Margitza, a great player in his own right. Louis always has something new on his site—if you like Michael Brecker (or jazz saxophone in general), you’ll want to add it to your Favorites!
